Ep 213 Wine & Dine Week, Tips, and the runDisney Community
The fastest way to upgrade a race weekend isn’t a workout—it’s a conversation. We start Wine & Dine with a clear plan. This plan turns nerves into connection. We detail exactly where to find us before each start. We also show how to spark easy chats in the corrals. Plus, we explain why your first bus and first hello can change the whole vibe. If you’re arriving solo, you don’t have to stay that way. We’ll make the introductions. We’ll help you find your people.

The episode begins with an introduction from Lori at the Bird in Hand Half Marathon. If you’d like to introduce an upcoming episode, please reach out to us on our social media. You can also email us, or leave us a message on our hot-line (727-266-2344).
Wine & Dine Week, Tips, and Community
The gang goes over some tips for the weekend. Bring a lightweight bag for the finish chute. This way, your medal, water, Powerade, banana, cooling towel, and snack box don’t turn into a juggling act. Pack two pairs of running shoes if you’re doing multiple races. Swap between them. You’ll have a backup if rain surprises you. Carry a hat or visor for sun and drizzle, and sunglasses for the latter miles of the half. Plan nutrition with discipline. Enjoy the parks, but don’t sabotage the big race. Avoid a late, heavy meal or experimental snack. If you can, grab the first bus from your resort; it buys margin for hiccups, shorter character-photo lines, early access to corral queues, and more time to find the Rise and Run group before the start. Weather in Florida can be variable—humidity is the likeliest challenge—so keep a cheap poncho and be ready to simplify a costume if the temps climb.
At the expo, stop by Jeff Galloway’s booth to meet Jeff and Chris Twiggs—courteous, generous guides whose run-walk-run approach has helped thousands link consistency to joy. The expo itself is best navigated with a loose plan: bib first, shirts next, and then time-box the merch browse. Virtual queues can smooth the morning rush, but you’ll still do some walking; pace yourself. If you’re nervous, anchor your day around one friendly interaction and let that momentum carry you. This is how many of the gang transformed their first quiet, solitary trips into weekends that feel like reunions—because they said hello, once, and kept saying it.
Podcast We Listen to One More Run Podcast

We spotlights the One More Run I podcast with AJ and Erica—former Disneyland cast members who turned the repetitive questions they answered for friends into a clean library for new runners. They publish weekly, with a focus on demystifying the basics: proof of time, corral placement, fueling, costumes, and the nuance of enjoying RunDisney without insider vocabulary. Their chemistry is spousal and sincere; the production quality is sharp because AJ works in video; their aim is clarity, not clout. The cross-show respect matters: a rising tide lifts all boats, and more thoughtful voices make the runDisney space more welcoming. If you’re starting out, One More Run is a strong complement to Rise and Run’s community-first style.
