The Rise and Run WDW Race Weekend Resort Rumble
Selecting the right resort for your race weekend can significantly impact your overall experience. The Rise and Run podcast team debated the merits of various Walt Disney World resorts. They collaborated with Magic Bound Travel experts Brad and Maggie. The focus was specifically on race weekends. After much deliberation, they crowned Beach Club as their top pick. They cited its proximity to Epcot as perfect for the after-party at Wine and Dine. It also has an exceptional pool area for post-race recovery and multiple dining options. In addition, it offers prime spectating locations for supporters. The newly refurbished pool area and sizeable hot tub make it ideal for tired muscles after completing your race.
Pop Century secured second place. This is primarily for its affordability and straightforward transportation with a single bus stop. It is also due to its growing popularity among the running community. As one host mentioned, “Pop has become the Rise and Run resort of choice” for many race weekends. Port Orleans French Quarter came in third. It earned praise for its compact size, meaning shorter walks to bus stops. Guests also loved the delicious Mickey-shaped beignets and the relaxing atmosphere. The Polynesian and Coronado Springs (particularly the Grand Destino Tower) rounded out the top five.
Transportation considerations weigh heavily when selecting a race weekend resort. The Beach Club offers multiple options with boats and buses. It is also near the Skyliner. The Polynesian provides monorail access directly to many race starting areas. As several hosts pointed out, “Unlike a bus driver that might get lost, the monorail can’t miss its route.” This ensures you arrive at your race on time.

In the Race report, we hear about Melissa’s journey. She became an “ultra runner” for the first time at the Baby Backyard 50K in Maple Grove, MN. We hear how she wanted to do Dopey before her 50th in 2024. After that, she wanted to do a 50K in her 50th year. Melissa thanks coach Alysha for all the training support during these past couple months. Two rainstorms, hills, and a messy trail made it quite the challenge. However, the mental and physical fortitude she built up over these past months allowed me to complete it. Ring that PR bell!
The Rise and Run community embraces runners of all experience levels, offering guidance, encouragement, and celebrating the journey together. As we approach the heart of race season, keep the finish line in mind. Enjoy the journey along the way.
