runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend Recap
The race weekend itself featured a full house of Rise and Run podcast hosts experiencing various race distances. The 5K featured memorable moments. Podcast host Bob wore the famous “I am Groot” costume. It made such an impression it landed on the official Run Disney Instagram. The 10K brought its share of challenges with the warm Florida weather. This was especially true for those in elaborate costumes. The 10-miler rounded out the weekend with an Incredibles group costume theme.
Character stops were abundant throughout all races, with participants noting more characters than previous years. Rare characters like Mando and Grogu in Galaxy’s Edge and Doctor Strange generated substantial wait times but added excitement to the races. One notable improvement was the relocation of a hydration stop to the area near Jelly Rolls. This move was from the international “squeezeway” and created a smoother flow for runners.
The Rise and Run community meetup emerged as a highlight of the weekend, bringing together approximately 55-60 podcast fans. This gathering exemplified the inclusive nature of the podcast community. The hosts made sure newcomers felt welcomed. They also helped connect them with other attendees. The community continues to grow impressively. Many participants express that these meetups have become increasingly meaningful with each race weekend.

Dumbo is the theme for the Challenge medal. The Run Disney community is already eagerly anticipating the next season of magical miles.
